Alana - Benito's Story

Golden Love Birds tells the tale of Alana, the daughter of a powerful sugar plantation family in Dominica, and Benito, a young German man who visits the island on vacation. The two meet by chance at Purple Turtle Beach, and their brief connection leads to a deep, enduring love. Despite Alana’s family’s strict expectations and her forced marriage to a cruel man named Elias, Alana and Benito’s bond remains unbreakable. They secretly meet at a sacred spot known as the Golden Love Birds, where Benito confesses his love for Alana, and she returns his feelings.

After years of separation, Alana’s marriage to Elias falls apart, and she returns to the the Lover's Point, where she reunites with Benito. However, Alana is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and shortly after their wedding, she dies in Benito’s arms. Her final wish is that their love would continue beyond death. Benito honors this promise by visiting her grave at the spot every day until his own death.

The Lover's Point, where their love flourished, becomes a symbol of eternal love, attracting couples who hope to find a bond as lasting as theirs and now recognized as Golden Love Birds. The story is a testament to the power of love, overcoming obstacles, and the belief that love endures beyond even death.

Lover's Point
of Dominica

The Lover's Point is the place at the top of the trail to Boiling Lake which was chosen by Benito to confess his love for Alana. He took Alana at the place and told her that from the moment he saw her at the beach, he knew he was destined to be with her. His words poured from his heart, raw and true. Alana, overcome with emotion, broke down into tears. In that moment, she realized that she too had fallen in love with him. The years of longing, the quiet moments of connection, had led them to this very spot, and with a trembling voice, she whispered, “Yes.”
